Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Trust!

Have you ever asked yourself what do you trust in?

As I researched some scripture dealing with trust this week, two things were obvious. Before I point out what these two things are let us look at some scripture.

Paraphrased:

Proverbs 11:28*Whoever trusts in his riches will fall.

Proverbs 28:26*He who trusts in himself is a fool.

Psalm 49:12-13*Like a beast that perishes-this is the fate of those who trust in themselves.

Jeremiah 48:7*Trust in your deeds and riches and you will be taken captive.

With these verses in mind, the end results are not good.

Now let’s look at some more scriptures with a better outcome.

John 14:1-3*Trust in God and me, and I will prepare a place for you.

Proverbs 3:5-6*Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and he will make your path straight.

Psalm 62:8*Trust in him at all times for God is our refuge.

Psalm 28:7*My heart trusts in him and my heart leaps for joy.

It seems when we trust in ourselves or the way of the world, the outcome is very bleak. Yet when we trust in the Lord the outcome is salvation, joy, and gladness. So why is it so difficult for people to trust in the Lord?

We all set goals for ourselves and these goals that we set are long term goals or are they?

Jesus tells about a rich fool in Luke 12:16-21. What happens is the rich man tears down his old barns and builds bigger and better barns. He would fill these barns with all of his harvest. To the world this brought this man great wealth. Then he died. This wealth did him no good. What he needed was to be rich toward God and he would have received eternal wealth, which is eternal life.

Where do you want to put your trust? I hope this is some food for thought.
